GRIA v5.3-beta3 Released
GRIA v5.3-beta3 is now available for download
We are pleased to announce that another beta release of GRIA 5.3 is now available for download.
The 5.3 client features a completely redesigned Java API. This should be cleaner, easier to use and more flexible.
Note that GRIA clients and services remain compatible at the SOAP level, so a client written using the new API will still work with GRIA 5.2 services, for example.
New features in Beta3
Previous betas only included the client. While the majority of the changes in 5.3 are to the client, the services contain a couple of major new features too:
- There is a new Kerberos / Active Directory single-sign-on service, in the client management package. This service issues X.509 credentials based on users' local Kerberos or Active Directory credentials. For example, a user can log in to their Windows desktop by entering their Windows username and password, as usual, and then automatically be issued with an X.509 certificate which they can use to access remote resources.
- The data service now exposes a REST interface, allowing clients to manage data using plain HTTPS GET / PUT / DELETE operations. This is considerably more efficient than using SOAP-with-attachments and also works with non-SOAP clients.
Feedback
We would appreciate feedback on the new version; please see the support page for contact details.
